What is Felis or Bubbar sher?
Introduction:
It has a muscular, broad-chested body, short, rounded head, round ears, and a hairy tuft at the end of its tail. It is sexually dimorphic; adult male lions are larger than females and have a prominent mane. It is a social species, forming groups called prides.

Habitat: It is found in Africa, South of Sahara, Asia and Gir forest of Gujarat in India. It is commonly called lion or bubbar sher.
Habits:
(1) It shows diurnal and gregarious activity.
(ii) It is cursorial and digitigrade. It may run at the speed of 96 km/hr.
(iii) It is a carnivorous animal.
(iv) Sexes are diocious and show sexual dimorphism. Male has a copulatory organ, penis and mammy. whereas female has abdominal mammy. Male is polygamous. Fertilization is internal. Female is viviparous and development is direct.
External characters :
(1) Body is divisible into head, neck, trunk and tail.
(ii) Body contains dark brown fur.
(iii) Head is large, massive and majestic looking having eyes, ears and whiskers.
(iv) Mouth has highly powerful jaws for sudden puncturing the body of prey. Canines act as powerful
fangs.
(v) Tail is long with a black tuft which contains a sharp, horny tail spurs.
